چکیده

We present a lattice model to study the equilibrium phase diagram of ordered alloys with one magnetic component that exhibits a low temperature phase separation between paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases. The model is constructed from the experimental facts observed in Cu32xAlMnx and it includes coupling between configurational and magnetic degrees of freedom that are appropriate for reproducing the low temperature miscibility gap. The essential ingredient for the occurrence of such a coexistence region is the development of ferromagnetic order induced by the long-range atomic order of the magnetic component. A comparative study of both mean-field and Monte Carlo solutions is presented. Moreover, the model may enable the study of the structure of ferromagnetic domains embedded in the nonmagnetic matrix. This is relevant in relation to phenomena such as magnetoresistance and paramagnetism.

Ab Initio Construction of Magnetic Phase Diagrams in Alloys: The Case of Fe(1-x)Mn(x)Pt.

A first-principles approach to the construction of concentration-temperature magnetic phase diagrams of metallic alloys is presented. The method employs self-consistent total energy calculations based on the coherent potential approximation for partially ordered and noncollinear magnetic states and is able to account for competing interactions and multiple magnetic phases. Application to the Fe...

Production and Characterization of Nano Crystalline Fe85Si10Ni5 Soft Magnetic Alloys by Mechanical Alloying

Abstract There are various methods to produce iron based nano crystalline magnetic alloys. Among these methods, mechanical alloying is one of the most important. In this research, nano crystalline Fe85Si10Ni5 soft magnetic alloy was synthesized by mechanical alloying. The effect of alloying time on phase constituents and magnetic properties of the produced powders was investigated, by X-ray di...

ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF THE Y (Fe1-xCox)2 ALLOYS

We report on a theoretical investigation of the electronic structure and magnetic properties of the pseudobinary Y (Fel-,Co,)2 Laves phase alloys. The magnetic properties are found to be well described by a Slater-Pauling curve with a maximum of the magnetisation at z = 0.25. A Fixed Spin Moment (FSM) calculation is used to describe the disappearance of the magnetic moment as a function of allo...

Magneto-optical spectra of long range chemically ordered FePd(001) alloy films

The occurrence of chemical ordering can have a dramatic influence on structural, electronic, and magnetic properties in many materials systems. Examples of recent interest are binary metallic alloy systems such as CoPt, FePt, and FeAu, where strong interdependencies between magnetic and magneto-optical properties and the degree of long range chemical ordering have been observed. Near the equiat...
